Obituary:
Alan D. Hildebrand, 53, of Ashland, died Monday, November 10, 2008 from injuries sustained in a construction accident in Columbia Missouri.
Al was born in Ashland, Ohio on December 16, 1954 to Merle W. and E. Juanita Martin Hildebrand. He had been a resident of Ashland his entire life until recently moving to Boonville, MO. He was a graduate of Mapleton High School class of 1973.
He worked in construction most of his life and was employed as a Mason with the Mansfield Bricklayers Local. Al was also the former owner of Kendall Radiator Service in Ashland, and also formerly Managed Brunches in Ashland.
He was a member of Park Street Brethren Church in Ashland, Ashland Moose Lodge # 1383, Elks Lodge #1360, Eagles Lodge # 2178 and had just recently joined the Boonville, Missouri Eagles Lodge. He was also a member of the Mansfield Bricklayers Local. Al enjoyed bowling and softball but especially loved to play golf.
He is survived by two daughters, Kasey D. Hildebrand of Mansfield, Allyson L. Hildebrand of Ashland; his mother and step father, E. Juanita (David) Finley of Ashland, two sisters, Kim (Jack) Hiller and Kelly Hubler both of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his father Merle W. Hildebrand.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.from the Park street Brethren Church in Ashland with Dr. Arden Gilmer officiating. Burial will be in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and left at the funeral home.

Obituary:
Beulah E. Bally, 94 Enjoyed Extensive Travel
Beulah E. Bally, 94, of Ashland, died at Brethren Care Village on Monday evening November 10, 2008. She was born in New Pittsburg, Ohio in Wayne County on February 13, 1914 a daughter of Glenn and Esther Gortner Worst. She was a graduate of Chester School in Wayne County. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women and the United Gleaners Sunday School Class, she was also a former Sunday school teacher at Christ Church for many years. Beulah was a homemaker and she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, taking walks, reading and visiting with her loved ones and friends. She and her late husband, Elvro, traveled extensively throughout the 50 states, and took trips to Canada, Europe and Asia.
On November 26, 1936 she was married to Elvro E. Bally who preceded her in death on June 2, 1978. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Camp of Ashland, Linda Fraley of Mansfield, and Jean (Chuck) Finlay of Dade City, Florida and a son-in-law, Ed (Nancy) Zoller of Elkhart, Indiana, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren, one sister, Donna (Tim) Hamilton of Wooster. In addition to her parents a daughter, Joyce Zoller and a sister, Opal Imhoff preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday November 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM from Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home of Ashland with the Rev. James Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday morning at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Obituary:
Charles Dean Hunt - Loved his family and church family
Charles Dean Hunt 68, went home to be with his lord and savior on Saturday morning, November 15, 2008, following a lingering illness.
Dean was born May 22, 1940 in Ashland, Ohio to Charles M. and Lois Frizzell Hunt. He had been a resident of Ashland County all of his life and lived in Savannah for most of that time.
Dean was a professional truck driver for most of his life. His first job was with the State Highway Department where he mowed along the highways and drove truck and in the winter plowed snow. He then worked with Detroit-Pittsburgh and later Yellow Freight Line both steel hauling companies. Dean then became a truck driver for Archway which he enjoyed doing for 23 years before he retired. Following his retirement from Archway he drove for R & J Ag. Mfg. and most recently worked with Bill Harris Auto Dealerships as a Customer Service Representative.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 83rd Division from 1957 to 1965.
Dean was a member of the Grace Brethren Church and the Skylighters Sunday School Class and served as an Usher. He was a former member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. He was one of the founders of the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department and gave 48 years of his life as a volunteer. He also had served as a Savannah Councilman and served on the Board of Public Affairs. He was a Charter member of the Clear Creek Historical Society and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Harry Higgins Post # 88 in Ashland.
He enjoyed truck driving, camping and hunting.
On August 8, 1959 he was married to Pat Miller who survives him. Also surviving are four children, Michael (Peggy) Hunt of Ashland; Christal D. Corral of Orrville; Charleen D. Forrer of Ashland; Matthew (Kim) Hunt of Ashland, 11 grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Meehan, Cody Hunt, Ryan Hunt,, Chad Hunt, Chandra Corral, Aaron Corral, Adam Corral, Chase Forrer, Blake Forrer, Kaitlyn Hunt and Garrett Hunt; one great granddaughter, Arionna Corral; two sisters. Martha Silman of Ashland, Janice (Gary) Liston of Savannah; one brother, Harry (Vera) Smith of El Paso, TX; his mother-in-law, Florence Miller and his sister-in-law Mary Miller, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Hunt, his mother, Lois Frizzell Hunt, his step mother, Gladys Hulmes Hunt, one brother Robert B. Hunt. and his father-in-law, Ray Miller.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Brethren Church with the Rev. Dan Allan and the Rev. Norm Johnson officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard, will be at the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home where the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at the close of calling hours. Fred Walter Koehl - December 15, 1912 - November 17, 2008
Obituary:
Fred Walter Koehl, 95, died Monday, Nov 17, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Ohio. He was born in Ashland on Dec. 15, 1912, the first child of the late Edgar Wence Koehl and Florence Gertrude (Smith) Koehl.
Fred attended Ashland High School and met Margaret Beatrice “Bobby” Comer while attending the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a B.A. in journalism. They were married at Waukesha, Wisc. Oct. 8, 1936, and returned to Ashland, where Fred joined the advertising staff of the Ashland Times-Gazette. Fred worked there until he retired on Apr. 1, 1980, interrupted only by his service during World War II. In 1952 he was made general manager and continued as publisher after the newspaper was sold to Dix Communications in 1965. From 1952 to 2000, he also served as vice-president on the corporate board of directors of the Inquirer Printing Company, which published the Galion Inquirer, operated by his brother Edgar Koehl, Jr. and later his nephew, Edgar Koehl III. Following retirement, Fred and Bobby lived in Southern Pines, N.C. before returning to Ashland in 1999. They recently celebrated their seventy-second wedding anniversary.
Fred enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1943 and served until 1946, when he went on reserve status at the Columbus Naval-Air station, retiring in 1952 as a lieutenant commander. During the Okinawa campaign, Fred’s ship, the Aaron Ward, was attacked by kamikazes, an incident that led to the book, “Brave Ship, Brave Men,” which contained Fred’s memories of the attack. He was flight operations director on the Aaron Ward.
Fred and Bobby were long-time Presbyterians. Fred was a founder and past president of the Jaycees. He also helped reorganize the Chamber of Commerce after World War II. The Rotary, United Appeal Board, Symphony Board of Directors, and City-County Council are all past interests. He was also a president of the Ashland County TB and Health Association, and belonged to the Young Men’s Business Club. He was a long-time member of the Country Club of Ashland and a former Savings Bond chairman. Fred was also a long-time member of the Elks in Ashland and Southern Pines.
Fred is survived by his wife, Bobby; one son, Fredrick Stephen “Steve” (Jeanne) Koehl of Bluffton, S.C.; four grandchildren, Fredrick Stephen “Rick” Koehl, Laura (Tom) Bontrager, Mike Carbetta and Jamie (Doug) Hammond; a great-grandson, Jackson Hammond; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Guy, and Peter Guy; a sister-in-law, Jean Koehl of Galion; one nephew, Edgar (Susan) Koehl III and two nieces, Karen (Ashley) Hunt and Mary (Dick) Dyer.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Carbetta and one brother, Edgar Koehl, Jr.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, Nov. 28 at Belmont Tower, 2140 Center St., Ashland, Ohio with Chaplain Gerald Gess officiating. Private burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery.

Harold Sprinkle, 75, Contractor & Developer
Harold Sprinkle, 75, of Ashland, died at his residence on Saturday evening November 8, 2008 following a short illness. He was born in Ashland, on May 28, 1933 to Harold and Harriett Fetzer Sprinkle. A graduate of Ashland High School and a veteran of the United States Navy from 1952-1954 serving during the Korean Conflict as a Petty Officer in the Seabees.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a past council member, he was also very involved in Trinity’s Out Reach Program, he helped to build a children’s home in the Virgin Islands on
St. Croix. He was a member of the Ashland Eagles Lodge #2178 and the National Rifle Association. He was a Mobil Oil Distributor for 25 years, he was also a self-employed developer and contractor, he owned and built Silverstone Mobile Home Park and Swimming Lake and he also owned, built and developed Lakeview Estates Apartment Complex.
On September 12, 1954 he was married to Sharlene Witmer who survives him, he is also survived by a daughter, Lori Sprinkle and a son, Randy (Sally) Sprinkle, all of Ashland, three grandchildren, Amanda Sprinkle of Alabama, Jennifer Sprinkle of South Carolina and Bethany Sprinkle of Ashland, his brother, Dr. James (Joan) Sprinkle of Virginia and his sister Nancy (Peter) Pelkonen of Florida.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday November 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM from Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanford Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Obituary:
Helen L. (Begert) Oxenrider, 90, formerly of Nankin, died Saturday morning, November 8, 2008 at Kingston of Ashland following a long illness.
Helen was born in Wayne County, October 12, 1918 to Fred and Alta Stuckey Begert.
She was a graduate of Smithville High School and the Wooster Business College.
She had been a resident of Orange Twp. and the village of Nankin for over 60 years, and was a homemaker.
Helen was raised in the Lutheran Faith, and loved working in her garden.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth (Kay) Oxenrider of Ashland; one daughter, Phyllis A. Oxenrider of Ashland; four grandchildren, Keith L. (Shay) Oxenrider of Ashland Robin O. (Mark) Oberli of Wadsworth; Michael J. Oxenrider of Ashland and Kristyna K. (Keith) Canfield of Ashland and eight great grandchildren, Coleman and Emily Oberli of Wadsworth; Derreck and Sydney Ernsberger, Madelynn, Elyse, Michael and Emma Oxenrider of Ashland, Two sisters, Emma Geiser of Smithville and Lorna Weibe of Orrville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John F. Oxenrider on Dec, 17, 1966, 2 sisters and 6 brothers.

John E. Edwards, 81, Owned Nardini’s
John E. Edwards, 81, of Ashland, died at Kingston of Ashland, early Wednesday morning October 22, 2008. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 3, 1927 to the late Shelby and Olive Matthew Edwards. He was a graduate of Ashland High School and he attended Ashland College. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving as a Tank Crewman in Germany and Europe. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
John and Peggy owned and operated Nardini’s Confectionary which was in the Nardini family for over 100 years. It was located on Church Street right off Main Street for many decades. The Room Upstairs was created in the late seventies and many happy memories and long lasting friendships were treasured by the entire Edward’s family.
He was married on February 18, 1950 to Ashland native, Margaret Nardini, his wonderful wife preceded him in death on December 12, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Rita Anne Edwards of Ashland and his son, John E. “Doad” Edwards and his wife Nancy of Columbus, four grandchildren, Alexis Reed Krutch and husband Dr. Jason Krutch of Denver, Colorado, Katie Edwards of Port Clinton, and Jay and Patrick Edwards and three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jackie Schuttera of Ashland and Nancy (Winton) Thomas of Euless, Texas and two brothers, Bob (Connie) Edwards of Ashland and Bill (Lori) Edwards of Urbana.
In addition to his parents and wife, three sisters, Marilynn Deucker, Naomi Corley and Elaine Buckway and two brothers, infant, Richard and Shelby Jr. all preceded him in death.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM from St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. James Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery where the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will participate in Military graveside services. Obituary:
Naomi L. Parker, 77, of Ashland, died Wednesday evening, October 29, 2008 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Parker was born in Washington, PA., February 9, 1931 to the late John and Belva Dillie Coffield. She was a resident of Pennsylvania until moving to Ashland in 1988 from Spring Grove, PA.
She retired from York Hospital in York, PA. in 1988 where she had worked in the Housekeeping Department.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland, Order of Eastern Star Washington, PA chapter. The Mansfield Moose Lodge and the High Twelve Club #408 in Mansfield.
On January 24, 1959 she was married to James R. Parker who preceded her in death on October 18, 2006. She is survived by one daughter, Renee` Beth Parker of Ashland; one son Dale Roger (Jean) Parker of York Springs, PA; Two grandchildren, Deidre and Brandon Parker; Two sisters, Faye Hess of Pittsburgh, PA; Ellen (Richard) Drosdick of Ft. Worth, TX; two brothers, Jim (Ellen) McGuire of Prosperity, PA; John Riley Coffield of Washington, PA. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kathryn Bell and Ina Louise Coffield in infancy, and one brother Robert McGuire.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with Rev. James Cox officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Todd Sherrod Welsh, 45, Gulf War Veteran
Todd Sherrod Welsh, 45, of Mooresville, North Carolina, died at his residence on Wednesday October 8, 2008 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1963 in Walbridge, Ohio, he was the son of Sondra Helbert Welsh and James Sherrod Welsh. He was a graduate of Ashland High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corp for twelve years and he served his country during the Gulf War. Todd was the owner of Man & A Mower Lawn Care. He is survived by his mother, Sondra R. Welsh of Mooresville, North Carolina and his father, James Sherrod Welsh and his wife Jan of Ashland, he is also survived by his sister, Lou Ann Alery and husband Mike, niece and nephew, Sondra and Matthew Alery all of Otsego, Minnesota; his aunt and uncle, Jack and Sonia Warriner of Waco, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orville and Mildred Welsh, Al and Evelyn Richmond; sister, Kimberly Sue Welsh and uncle, Timothy L. Richmond.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with the Rev. Deborah Patterson officiating.
